Our Story

The Legacy Behind Drop for Scotty

A community tradition born from one man's extraordinary generosity — and the neighbors who refused to let it end.

Who Was Lord Scott?

A Man Who Showed Up Every Year

Lord Scott was a fixture of Easton, Maryland — a local businessman with a big heart and an even bigger commitment to his community. Every December, without fail, Scotty organized one of the most beloved holiday traditions in Talbot County: a massive food and fundraising drive that collected donations from neighbors, businesses, and organizations across the region.

But Scotty didn't stop at collecting. On Christmas Day, he hosted a grand community dinner and personally distributed presents and food to families throughout Easton. For many families, Scotty's generosity meant the difference between a holiday with nothing and one filled with warmth, food, and dignity.

Scotty passed away in 2020, leaving behind a community that loved him deeply — and a tradition too important to let fade away.

"He didn't just talk about helping people — he showed up, every single year, and made sure no one was forgotten."
— In memory of Lord Scott, Easton, Maryland

How It Began

The Rotary Club Steps Up

When Scotty passed, members of the Rotary Club of Easton knew they couldn't let his tradition die. They had watched him work for years, had seen the impact firsthand, and understood what it meant to the families who depended on it.

In 2020, the Rotary Club launched Drop for Scotty — a yearly October thru December drive that places donation barrels at locations throughout Easton, collecting non-perishable food and monetary donations in Scotty's honor. The name says it all: drop something off, for Scotty.

Every donation collected goes directly to the Neighborhood Service Center (NSC), the Easton nonprofit that has served Talbot County's most vulnerable residents for decades. The NSC provides emergency food assistance, rental and utility aid, transitional housing support, and essential household goods to low-income families, seniors, and individuals working toward self-sufficiency.
